Spring Mulching

Old man winter is holding on with a tight grip to the winter season here in the Pittsburgh region.  A year ago, the region saw temperatures in the 70s.....greens were poked and the greens department and begun mowing practices throughout the course in March.  What a difference a year makes, the freezing and thawing cycles that have occurred over the past couple of weeks have been a nightmare towards getting a leg up on the season.  So, what to do?

Trust me, every chance we've been able to get on the course....we have.  But with 76 of the 84 days of 2013 containing perception of some sort, we've had plenty of time to get a head start on the landscape beds throughout the property.  The staff spent some time going through each bed and removing any debris such as leaves and sticks that have developed from the winter months.  This past week, we started mulching around the clubhouse in preparation for the holiday weekend and the start of the season that's a couple of weeks away.

Happy Easter!
